DaGolfGuru ("we", "us", "our") operates the Golf Guru web application accessible at dagolfguru.com. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights under the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Who We Are

Golf Guru is a private social golf picks game. We are not a gambling or wagering service. No real money is involved. For data-related queries contact us at admin@dagolfguru.com.

2. Data We Collect

  • Account information — your email address and display name, provided when you register or sign in with Google.
  • Game data — the golfers you pick each tournament and your resulting scores.
  • Push notification tokens — a device token stored if you opt in to push notifications. You can revoke this at any time in your Profile settings.
  • Usage data — standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) retained briefly by our hosting provider for security purposes. We do not use these for profiling.

We do not collect payment information, precise location, or any sensitive personal data.

3. Why We Process Your Data

  • To provide the service — running your account, storing picks, displaying leaderboards and league standings (legal basis: contract performance).
  • To send notifications — tournament alerts, results emails, and push notifications you have opted into (legal basis: consent).
  • To improve the app — understanding usage patterns to fix bugs and add features (legal basis: legitimate interests).

4. Third-Party Services

We share data with the following processors only to the extent necessary to operate the app:

  • Supabase (EU region) — authentication and database hosting.
  • Vercel — web application hosting and edge infrastructure.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery (results emails, pick reminders).
  • SportsData.io — live golf leaderboard and score data (we share no personal data with them).

We do not sell your data to any third party or use it for advertising.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and game data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

6. Your Rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Object to or restrict processing
  • Withdraw consent at any time (e.g. unsubscribe from push notifications)
  • Lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in Ireland: the Data Protection Commission)
